Bloganuary writing prompt
What is your favorite animal?

In the wild, it would be any of the Apex Predators, Tigers and Leopards from the Jungles of India; Lions and Cheetahs from the Savannahs of Africa; Orcas, Polar Bears from the Polar regions, Whales (more for their size and interpersonal communications); the Giganatosaurus and Tyrannosaurus from the Jurassic Era and of course the Velociraptors; the Brahmani Kite, Owls, the common Indian Crow, Mynas, the gentle giants – elephants.

Domesticated would include any and all kinds of dogs. I’ve had the luck to own a large-sized, mixed-breed labrador called Tara and her son, another mongrel that definitely resembled a yellow Labrador.

More recently I have had the pleasure to pet sit my neighbors dog – a wadi mongrel called Rolo and my siblings dogs: a labrador, a boxer and a Golden Retriever. I love them all equally and yet, I can live without them. There was a point in time, when I thought I would never survive without a dog, but after I lost Butch who pined after my father when he passed away and Tara who walked slowly across the rainbow bridge, I seem to have lost that part of my being that insists that having and raising dogs is an “all or nothing” situation.

Today, I am happy to pet and befriend dogs in my local community and even volunteer to pet-sit them.
