Daily writing prompt
Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

This is funny, there were two things I was super attached to, one would be my ‘slang book’ from high school and the other would be a steel ‘kada’ similar to the ones worn by Sikhs.

The slang book was super hilarious, cos, I did not have those readymade books but one where I had converted a diary from my dad’s office into a book. It had a super long list of queries and questions my classmates had to answer along with space for a few personal lines they could pen. Favorite actors, singers, songwriters, movies, OMG, the list is endless, specially when I look at it now, I am amazed at the list I had put down. I will take this opportunity to thank my classmates for having patiently populating those fields. As a student it the early 1990’s I think that book was ambitious and my classmates were super generous to have taken the time out. Incidentally, that book is still with me, and I do look at it from time to time and find it super hilarious to read. I do share it with my classmates on our groups/forums and even they find it funny to have filled that list.

The kada, was one of those crazy things I picked up at a local fair in one of the locations my uncle had been placed while working with the government. It was the only thing that actually fit my wrist and I wore it for the longest time. I wore it with ethnic clothes as well as jeans and it was a fashion staple, and it never lost its shine or shape. I think I still have this, not too sure, but I know for a fact that it will only fit my wrist today if I try some crazy thumb dislocation technique while wearing it.

Crazy memories of these two objects from my youth, but bring up such fun memories! Amazing to start a day reminiscing about something funny.
